I did a recent interview with a crafter/artist who turned her hobby into her business. Re-reading it, two things struck me:
- I bet there are a LOT of people out there who have turned their hobby into a business.
- I bet there are even MORE people out there would LOVE to turn their hobby into a business.
It makes sense to me. I’m a firm believer in that you should enjoy your work; and the best way to do that is to do what you love.
And I am among the ranks of those who converted their hobby into a business. I turned my love of reading into an ever-growing online used bookstore, and have thoroughly enjoyed the process and learned so much on the way.
But what do we need to know about making the leap from being passionate to professional? Taxes? Employees? Paying the bills? The prospect of growth or bankruptcy? And what key factors do we see in those who succeed?
More to come, folks!
